FAIRBORN — Sidney scored one goal in each half and beat Fairborn 2-0 in a first-round Division I sectional girls soccer tournament game on the road on Monday.

Freshman Lainie Fair scored each of the Yellow Jackets’ goals in the victory, one on an assist from Kyah Vondenhuevel and the other on an assist from Lauren Barker. Junior goalkeeper MaKayla Hurey had four saves.

It was the fourth consecutive win for the No. 12 seed Yellow Jackets (9-6-2), which lost 2-1 to No. 11 Fairborn in a Miami Valley League game on Aug. 21 in Sidney.

The squad will try to keep the winning streak alive against the team it last lost to: Troy. Sidney will travel to No. 6 Troy for a Div. I sectional final on Thursday. The Trojans won an MVL matchup 3-1 on Sept. 25.

Miami East 4, Botkins 0

The Trojans’ season came to an end on Monday in a Div. III sectional opener in Casstown. Four players scored for No. 11 seed Miami East.

Botkins was the sectional’s No. 23 seed and finishes the season with a 3-14 overall record.
