Monday roundup: Fairlawn boys crush Triad

SIDNEY — Fairlawn earned a 68-36 nonconference victory over Triad on Monday.

The Jets built a 27-7 lead by the end of the first quarter and cruised from there. They outscored the Cardinals 12-9 in the second and 17-12 in the third. Each team scored 12 points in the fourth.

Skyler Piper led Fairlawn (7-12) with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Ashton Piper, Kyle Peters and James Cotterman each scored 11 points.

Girls basketball

Houston 45, Lehman Catholic 30

The Wildcats earned a victory on senior night on Monday.

Houston built a 10-4 lead by the end of the first quarter and followed with a 15-13 scoring advantage in the second to push its lead to 25-17 at halftime. The squad outscored the Cavaliers 8-5 in the third and 12-8 in the fourth.

Seniors Amber Stangel and Catryn Mohler each scored 10 points while Mariah Booher added four points.

“I am really proud of these three seniors,” Houston coach Brad Allen said. “Mariah, Amber, and Catryn have been key for us and have been productive especially tonight to help secure our help 10th win of the season.”

Megan Maier added nine points for the Wildcats, which finish regular-season play with a 10-11 record.

Anna Cianciolo led Lehman (7-13) with nine points, 10 rebounds and four assists. The Cavaliers shot 11 for 46 (24 percent) from the floor.

Jackson Center 46, Waynesfield-Goshen 36

The Tigers won a nonconference game on Monday in Waynesfield.

Each squad scored 11 points in the first quarter. The Tigers used a 14-8 scoring edge in the second to take a 25-19 halftime lead and followed with an 11-7 advantage in the third. Each team scored 10 points in the fourth.

Sarah Clark led Jackson Center with 11 points while Morgan Huber and Gwen Prenger each scored nine. The Tigers finish regular-season play with a 4-17 record.

Riverside 58, Upper Scioto Valley 28

The Pirates clinched a share of the Northwest Central Conference title on Monday by beating the Rams in De Graff.

Kirstin Schlumbohm scored 24 points and had six steals for Riverside, which finishes regular-season play 14-5 overall and 6-1 in NWCC play.

Lauryn Sanford scored 14 points and had four assists. Olivia Perk scored eight points and had 12 rebounds, five assists, four steals and three blocks.

Anna 42, St. Henry 30

The Rockets earned a nonconference victory on Monday in St. Henry to finish regular-season play 14-7 overall.

No statistics or other information was reported.

Covington 57, Fairlawn 39

The Jets lost a nonconference makeup game on Monday in Covington.

Covington took a 21-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. Fairlawn cut the gap with a 12-9 scoring edge in the second. Each team scored 11 points in the third. The Buccaneers finished with a 16-12 edge in the fourth.

Lonna Heath led Fairlawn (6-13) with 16 points while Lexi Graves scored eight.
