Staff report

Anna senior outfielder Luke Albers has been voted the County Player of the Year in baseball for the second year in a row, it was announced this week.

Albers led the Rockets to an 11-1 record in County play and an outright championship for the second year in a row.

He was one of four Anna players to be selected to the first team, and there were two more voted to the second team. Another two were on the Honorable Mention list for a total of eight for the Rockets.

Fort Loramie also had eight players recognized, with two on each of the first two teams and four on the Honorable Mention list, and Russia had seven, with three on first team, two on second and two on the Honorable Mention list.

Those three schools dominated the list like they did the league race. Houston, Botkins and Jackson Center all had one player apiece on the second team.

Eight of the nine players on the first team are seniors. On the second team, there are just two seniors, along with four juniors, two sophomores and one freshman, Howie Ludwig of Houston.
