Holy Angels 7th-gradersets two records in meet

A Holy Angels 7th grader recently ended an impressive season in track and field with two wins at the conference meet and a strong performance in the state middle school meet.

Lindsey Magoteaux ran for Lehman’s junior high team and won two events at the Northwest Central Conference meet, setting new meet records in both.

She won the 100-meter dash in 12.74 and also won the 200 meters with a time of 26.64. That would put her in the Sidney Daily News high school Track Honor Roll in both events.

She also competed in the Middle School State Championships held at Dublin Scioto High School late last month.

She won the 7th grade 200 meters in 26.26, and was second in the 7th grade 100 in 12.78. She also competed against eighth graders from across the state and finished fourth overall in both events.

• Other junior high athletes from the county and area also participated in the Middle School State Championships, including 8th-grader Alyssa Wrasman of Fort Loramie, who won three events in the D-3 competition.

She was first in the 100 hurdles in a meet-record time of 16.21, first in the 200 hurdles in 31.26, and first in the high jump, clearing 4 feet, 8 inches.

Classmate Kennedi Gephart, also from Loramie, was first in the 400 in 1:03.17 and third in the 100 in 13.34.

Another Fort Loramie participant, 8th-grader Paige Rethman, was fourth in the 1600 in 5:29.51 and sixth in the 800 in 2:36.94, and the 3200 relay team of Siegel, Rethman, Eilerman and Simon was second in 11:09.19.

Also in D-3, Houston 8th grader Joseph Earl was fifth in the 3200 in 1:52.68 and classmate Ava Parin sixth in the pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches.

Minster 8th grader Emma Watcke was second in the 800 in 2:30.78.

Riverside had two high placers. Lauryn Sanford, a 7th-grader, was second in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches, and 8th-grader Darrick Cotterman was fourth in the boys high jump at an even five feet.

• In Division 1, Sidney Middle School’s Jalen Hudgins, an 8th grader, was second in the 200 in 23.24, fifth in the long jump at 17 feet, 6.25 inches, and eighth in the 100 in 12.68.

• In Division 2, 8th-grader Lucy Prakel of Versailles was fourth in the pole vault at an even nine feet, and sixth in the 100 in 13.45.
