Rangers send Hoyingto AAA Round Rock

FORT LORAMIE – Fort Loramie’s Jared Hoying was optioned to Class AAA Round Rock by the Texas Rangers on Tuesday and was expected to be in the lineup Wednesday night.

Hoying was called up for the second time this season on July 6 and remained with the big club until Tuesday. In two stints with the Rangers this season, Hoying hit .241 with seven hits, and also drove in five runs. He had a .313 on-base percentage.

At Round Rock this season, he is hitting .280 with 43 runs batted in. He has nine homers, which is second on the team.

Craig Stammen

Stammen, from North Star, continues his rehab with the Cleveland Indians’ Class AA team in Akron.

He has been unhittable in his work so far for the Rubber Ducks. He’s pitched in nine games and worked 11 innings, allowing just six hits and no earned runs yet. He has struck out nine and walked just three. In addition to his 0.00 ERA, his WHIP is at 0.90. That’s a measure of baserunners allowed per inning.

He pitched one inning on Wednesday against Richmond, and retired the side, striking out one.
