SIDNEY — Anna edged Fairlawn by a single stroke Monday in the annual Shelby County Golf Preview, held at Shelby Oaks.

The Rockets finished with a 329 and Fairlawn had a 330.

Anna was led by Zach Watren, the tournament medalist with a 72. Fairlawn had two players shoot sub-80 rounds, with Mason Jones at 75 and Nathan Lessing 78.

Fort Loramie placed third with a 346, and those top three teams were well ahead of the rest of the field, the fourth-place team being 37 strokes behind the Redskins.

Anna also got an 80 from Mason Platfoot, 87 from Eli Kuck and 90 from Evan Bensman.

Nick Fischio of Botkins shot a 79.

Cardinal Invitational

MINSTER — The Fort Loramie Redskins had a good day Tuesday at the annual New Bremen Cardinal Invitational, held at Arrowhead in Minster.

Not only did the Redskins take top honors with a 330, they also had the tournament medalist in Brad Gottemoeller, who shot a 74.

He was aided by Mitchell Puthoff and Zach Pleiman, both with 84, and Craig Eilerman with an 88. Ethan Broerman was one stroke back with an 89.

Minster was fifth with a 345 and led by Jordan Brackman, who was second only to Gottemoeller with a 76. Lehman’s Tyler Lachey finished third with a 78.

Homan Memorial

PIQUA — Sidney, Lehman, Minster, Versailles and New Bremen all competed in the 30th annual Homan Memorial Boys Golf Tournament at the Piqua Country Club on Monday.

Wapakoneta won the 18-team tournament with a 321, nine strokes better than runner-up Troy.

Versailles was fourth with a 353, Minster sixth with 362, Lehman seventh with 372, New Bremen 13th with 415 and Sidney 15th with a 425.

Nicholas Litten Stonebraker led Versailles with a 79, which was the fourth-best score of the tournament.

Lehman was led by Tyler Lachey with an 82, and Minster was paced by Jordan Brackman and Ben Stubbs, both with an 87. Jared Lindsey led Sidney with a 95 and Derek Bergman had New Bremen’s top score of 97.

Knouff wins again

ARCANUM — The Fort Loramie girls took first place Monday in the Arcanum Invitational, shooting a 387.

The Lady Redskins were once again led by Emily Knouff, who was the medalist for the third time in three tournaments, this time with a 76.

Megan Koppin added a 102, Riley Middendoerf had a 103 and Amy Eilerman shot a 106.

Versailles placed second with a 399.

• The Celina Girls Golf Invitational was held Friday, and Fort Loramie’s Knouff was the medalist with a 74.

There were 18 teams in the tournament, which was won by Findlay. Van Buren was runner-up and St. Henry placed third.

Behind Knouff, Fort Loramie shot a 381, good enough for fourth place. Rylee Poeppelman was next for the Lady Redskins with 100, Megan Koppin had a 101 and Amy Eilerman 106.

Minster shot a 393 and was led by Lisa Borges with a 96 and Hannah Koenig with a 97.

Versailles shot a 399 and was led by the 92 of Lauren Durham, and New Bremen had a 464, with Sarah Parker having the top score at 106.

Minster got a 40 from Jordan Brackman, 44s from Ben Stubbs and Adam Knapke and a 48 from Grant Voisard.
