SIDNEY — Sidney High’s girls tennis team took care of visiting Xenia in action Tuesday, 4-1.
The Lady Jackets lost only at first singles. Marie Butts won 6-3, 6-3 at second singles, and Madison Frank won 6-0, 6-0 at third singles.
At first doubles, the team of Hannah Brown and Caroline Gallimore won 6-1, 0-6, 7-6 (7-3). And at second doubles, Kathryn Saunders and Janae Drees won 6-3, 6-2.
“I’m very proud of the girls tonight,” said new coach Emily Scheu. “A win over Xenia is a great confidence booster to begin the season.”
In junior varsity play, Sidney’s doubles team of Naomi Riegel and Auanna Edens won 6-0, 6-0, and the team of Katelyn Wheeler and Sara Brown won 8-1.
Zoe Crist won in singles play 6-3, 6-2.
