Staff report

Fort Loramie’s Jared Hoying had another good week for Class AAA Round Rock Express, the top farm team of the Texas Rangers.

In six games, Hoying hit safely in four of them and had five hits, including his 15th home run of the season.

He was 1-for-4 in a 10-8 win over Las Vegas and had a two-run homer in the Express’s five-run top of the ninth that pulled out the win.

He was 1 for 5 in the next game with Vegas, an 8-6 loss, and 1 for 4 in a 3-1 win over the same team.

After going hitless in two games against Colorado Springs, he was 2 for 4 in the third game of the series, with a double, an RBI and a run scored.

He is now hitting .276 with 15 homers and 56 runs batted in.

Craig Stammen

Stammen, from North Star, had a much better week for the Columbus Clippers than the previous one.

He appeared in two games and pitched an inning in each. He did not allow a run or a hit, and had one strikeout.

He now has an earned run average of 7.71 in seven innings of work as he continues his comeback from arm surgery. He has allowed 10 hits and six runs, all earned, with five strikeouts.
