Loramie, Russia wincross country preview

SIDNEY — Fort Loramie dominated the boys race and Russia the girls race in the Annual Shelby County Cross Country Preview held Tuesday at Sidney High School.

The Loramie boys had 35 points to 63 for runner-up Anna in the 9-team field.

Jake Rethman led a list of three runners from Loramie in the top four and four in the top eight. He won the race in 17:44.3.

After Lucas Huber of Anna in second place came Joe Ballas and Tom Ballas of Fort Loramie third and fourth, respectively. Alan Holdheide added an eighth-place finish, and Loramie’s fifth runner was Noah Siegel in 19th place.

Also in the top 10 were Tristin Freistuhler of Houston in fifth, Bradley Axe of Anna sixth, Austin Fullenkamp of Botkins seventh, Ethan Knouff of Houston ninth and Joel Gaier of Anna 10th.

The Russia girls put five runners in the top 11, led by Anna Fiessinger in second place in 21:17.3.

Sidney’s Ana Adams took first place in 21:09.4.

Shae Goubeaux placed fifth for Russia, Audrey Gariety was eighth, Claire Meyer ninth and Megan Frazier 11th.

Brooklyn Flora of Botkins was third, Paige Rethman of Loramie fourth, Alanna O’Leary of Lehman sixth, Morgan Ely of Houston seventh and Danielle Berning of Fort Loramie 10th.

• In junior high action, Botkins won the boys race with 29, well ahead of the runner-up.

Donovan Brown of Botkins won the race in 12:09.4. Alan Fullenkamp was third, Collin Watterson fourth, Nate Schneider ninth and Jayden Wendell 12th.

The girls race went to Fort Loramie with 18 points, to 51 for Anna.

Loramie had the top two finishers and five of the top seven. Corynn Heitkamp won in 13:05.8. Danielle Eilerman was second, Olivia Borchers fifth, Claire Rethman sixth and Caitlyn Gasson seventh for Loramie.

Houston’s Ava Knouff was third, Makenzie Cole of Anna fourth, Kaylie Kipp of Anna eighth, Hope Bixler of Anna ninth and Breann Reaman of Anna 10th.
