Knouff takes medalist honorsin Versailles Girls Invitational

VERSAILLES — Fort Loramie’s Emily Knouff remained unbeaten Thursday when she took medalist honors in the annual Versailles Lady Tiger Tee Invitational at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.

Knouff shot a 75 to finish five strokes better than Tori Merrick of Tipp City. Maddie Covault and Lauren Heitkamp of Versailles tied for third with 90.

There were 12 teams competing in the tournament, and Tipp City took top honors with a 372 score, 11 strokes better than runner-up Versailles. Troy was third, four strokes behind Versailles.

Russia and Fort Loramie were fifth and sixth in the final standings. Russia’s 414 was paced by Kara Barlage’s 98.

Minster, which was seventh with a 422, had one golfer in the top ten. Alli Fischer shot a 94 for eighth place.

Celina Invitational

CELINA — Anna and Marion Local competed Friday in the Celina Bulldog Boys Golf Invitational at Fox’s Den.

There were 19 teams in the tournament, and it came down to the fifth scorecard to determine the team champion. Liberty-Benton and Kalida both had 326, with Benton declared the winner.

Anna finished with a 360, good enough for 10th place. Zach Watren shot an 84, Mason Platfoot 85, Ross Pulfer 95 and Eli Kuck 96.

Marion Local carded a 379 for 15th and was led by Derek Platfoot’s 89. Jordan Heitkamp had a 93, Collin Fleck 97 and Mitch Rethman 100.

Dual matches

MINSTER — Minster’s girls shot well Friday at Arrowhead and defeated Fort Loramie in a dual match 232-291.

Fort Loramie’s Emily Knouff was the medalist with a 38.

For Minster, Alli Fischer shot a 40, Sarah Huwer 46, Taylor Homan 47 and Hannah Koenig 48.

Also for Loramie, Amy Eilerman had a 51, Kayla Rosengarten 57 and Megan Koppin 59.

• In boys golf action at Shelby Oaks Friday, Jackson Center defeated Waynesfield and Lehman beat Houston in two dual matches.

Jackson shot a 179 to 198 for Waynesfield. Drew Sosby had a 41, Bryce Sosby 44, Brady Wildermuth 45 and Coltin Rose 49 for the Tigers.

Lehman had a 183 to Houston’s 197.

For Lehman, Ryan Schmidt shot a 42, Tyler Scott 45, and Adam Vanderhorst, Tyler Lachey and Zach Scott all shot 48.

For Houston, Tristan Stangel shot a 45 and Cameron Via 49.

Girls tennis

Sidney as outclassed by a strong Miamisburg team in girls tennis Thursday, 5-0.

All the matches by first doubles ended 6-0, 6-0. That one wound up 6-2, 6-0.

In junior varsity action, however, Sikdney had five wins.

In singles play, Zoe Crist won 8-5, Lanie Shoukri 8-1 and Nonoko Gunji 8-5.

In doubles play, Naomi Riegel and Auanna Edens won 8-6, and Katelyn Wheeler and Sara Gibson won 8-1.
