VERSAILLES — The Versailles boys won the Midwest Athletic Conference golf tournament Saturday, and the girls grabbed a share of the overall league title by winning also the tournament in action at Stillwater Valley Golf Course.


The Tiger boys took first place with a score of 323, just three strokes ahead of Delphos St. John’s.

Nicholas Litten-Stonebraker led the Tigers with a 74, sharing medalist honors with Derek Klausing of St. John’s. Litten-Stonebraker also earned Player of the Year honors in the MAC, finishing on top when the tournament and league dual results were combined. Minster’s Jordan Brackman finished third.

For the Tigers Saturday, Alex Groff shot a 78, Kyle Cotner 83 and Isaac Ruhenkamp 88.

Minster was led by Brackman with an 83, New Bremen was led by Tyler Leichliter with a 91, Ray Newton led New Knoxville with a 99, and Collin Fleck led Marion Local with an 88.

In the final overall league standings, Versailles was the champion with 34, to 32 for St. John’s.

Versailles finished first in the tournament Saturday, and earned a share of the overall league title in the process.

Minster was 7-0 in dual matches this season, and Versailles 6-1. So when they finished second and first in the tournament, it resulted in a co-championship in the final MAC standings.

Scores were not available, but Lauren Heitkamp of Versailles was the tournament medalist. She was also the top overall golfer in the league this season, earning her Player of the Year honors.

Minster’s Taylor Homan was second overall and Lauren Durham of Versailles third. New Bremen’s Sarah Parker was fifth.
