Lady Jackets fall to Vandalia

DAYTON — Sidney High’s girls played Vandalia at Dayton Center Courts Wednesday and lost 5-0.

Madison Frank at third singles had the closest match, losing 6-4, 6-1, and Hannah Brown and Katelyn Wheeler lost 6-1, 6-3 at second doubles.

The other three matches all ended 6-0, 6-0.

Lady Cavs fall

SIDNEY — The West Milton girls tennis team defeated Lehman recently 4-1.

At first singles, Ashley Wombold rallied from a first-set loss to defeat Lehman’s Diana Gibson 0-6, 6-3, 6-4. At second singles, Abby Hissong defeated Sarah Gibson 6-2, 6-3. At third singles, Rachel Rock defeated Allison Briggs 6-1, 6-1. At first doubles, Anna Brown and Caitlin Bushelman defeated Emma Simpson and Melanie Brunner 6-3, 6-1.

Lehman’s win came at second doubles, where Alex Read and Anna Pennaparra defeated Lauren Claggett and Kaitlyn Antonides 2-6, 7-5, 10-2.

• TIPP CITY — The Lady Cavaliers finished eighth with eight points at Saturday’s Schroeder Tournament at Schroeder Tennis Center, with St. Mary’s defeating Celina 31-30 to win the tournament.

At first singles, Diana Gibson finished sixth, losing to Springfield 8-2, defeating Wayne 8-2 and losing to St. Mary’s in the final round. At second singles, Sarah Gibson lost to Kenton Ridge 8-4, lost to Carroll 8-6 and defeated Wayne 8-2 to finish seventh.

The first doubles team of Melanie Bruner and Emma Simpson and the second doubles team of Alison Briggs and Anna Pennaparra both finished eighth, and the Cavs forfeited third singles.
