Sidney spikers lose in four

XENIA — Sidney dropped to 1-2 in volleyball action Thursday after losing at Xenia in four tight games.

The Lady Jackets won the first game 25-23, but dropped the next three 25-21, 25-21, 25-22.

Amanda Thomas was strong at the net, pounding out 14 kills for Sidney. Adrienna Cook added eight kills and Grace Shell chipped in with six. Thomas also had three blocks.

Kiana Calvert had four ace serves and Hannah Wiford two, McKenzie Lambdin led the defense with 10 digs, Shell had 21 assists and Calvert added 11.

The junior varsity team went to 3-0 by defeating Xenia.

Payton Boshears had four aces, Jada Rowland led in kills with five, Morgan Carey had four and Maddie White handed out 12 assists.

Houston wins in 4

ARCANUM — The Houston Lady Wildcats evened their record on the year at 1-1 by winning in four at Arcanum Thursday night.

The scores were 25-22, 25-17, 17-25, 25-19.

Jenna Winner had 13 kills to lead the Lady Wildcats, and Jenna Mounts and Sarah Monnier added seven kills each.

Winner led the defense with 15 digs, Mounts had 10 and Katherine Everett and Jenna Green both added nine.

Everett, Allie Voisard, Winner and Monnier all served two aces each, and Everett and Mounts both had six blocks.

Jones leads NB

FORT LORAMIE — In New Bremen’s loss to Fort Loramie Thursday, Paige Jones had an excellent game for the Lady Cardinals, posting 16 kills and 23 digs. She also had two aces.

Kaitlyn Ahrns added 10 kills and 16 digs, Alyse Clune led the defense with 29 digs, Devon Heitkamp had 10 digs, and Kaitlin Schwieterman finished with 26 assists.

TENNIS

Sidney loses 3-2

Sidney lost a close 3-2 verdict to Kenton Ridge in girls tennis action at Sidney Thursday.

The wins came from Madison Frank, who dominated at third singles 6-1, 6-0, and from the second doubles team of Naomi Riegel and Auanna Edens, who won 6-3, 6-3.

Desire Newton lost 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Marie Butts 6-0, 6-3 at second singles, and Hannah Brown and Katelyn Wheeler lost 6-1, 6-3 at first doubles.

In junior varsity action, Zoe Crist and Caroline Gallimore both won in singles play.
