ANNA — The Anna Rockets appeared headed for a good opening-night win in coach Nick Marino’s debut Friday night, leading 14-0 in the early stages of the fourth quarter.

But they missed a golden opportunity to put the game away, and Arlington rallied back to tie it up, then win it in overtime, 17-14, Friday night at Anna.

The Rockets now turn their attention to a road game Friday night at Brookville.

Anna led 7-0 at the half thanks to a pick-six by Kain Luthman in the opening quarter. It stayed 7-0 until the second play of the final period, when Colin Wuebker swept around end for a 14-yard score and a 14-0 lead.

On the ensuing play following the score, Anna came up with an interception and returned it to the Arlington 20 with a chance to put the game away. But they came away with no points, and on Arlington’s next possession, the Red Devils drove down and scored to cut the lead to 14-7.

Then midway through the final period, Arlington picked off a pass and returned it for a score to knot the game up, and it stayed that way the remainder of regulation.

Anna had the ball first and drove down to the Arlington one on second down, but the Rockets lost three yards on third down, then missed a field goal on fourth down.

Arlington drove to the one on its possession, and on fourth down, booted a game-winning field goal.
