Staff report

SIDNEY — Sidney High’s boys soccer team battled Miamisburg to a 0-0 tie in action Tuesday night at the high school.

The tie leaves Sidney at 1-0-2, with two scoreless ties in their last two outings. The Jackets return to action Saturday at Bellefontaine.

“This 0-0 result was much different than the 0-0 result at Xenia,” said Sidney coach Daniel Wicks. “This game we controlled the majority of the play and created more chances to score. Unfortunately, we didn’t take them. I warned our guys at halftime that by not taking our chances we ran the risk of giving up a cheap goal and losing the game. Lucky for us Ben Snavley made a huge save on a Miamisburg free kick in the second half. That was really the only danger we faced.

“Credit to our back line again. Two straight shutouts, and we’ve only conceded one goal in three games. But we need to start finishing our opportunities,” he added.

Snavley finished with six saves.

Sidney had 10 shots, six on target, compared to 12 and six for Xenia.
