Bradford-Marion Elgin game to beplayed at Sidney Memorial Stadium

Staff report

The lights will be on this Saturday night at Sidney Memorial Stadium, but neither local football team will be in action.

The stadium will be used for the high school game between Bradford and Marion Elgin Saturday, beginning at 7 p.m.

“I think they both had an open date because somebody didn’t field a team this year,” said Sidney High athletic director Mitch Hoying. “They were looking for a place to play because neither wanted to drive the full distance to the other place.”

Hoying said Marion Elgin’s athletic director is Jason Hix, and his brother Chip and wife Eileen Hix live in Sidney.

“That was his connection,” Hoying said.

Both teams are Division 7. Bradford lost its opening game to New Bremen last week, 21-0. Elgin defeated Ridgedale 49-13.
