Loramie gets past Fairlawn

SIDNEY — The Fort Loramie Lady Redskins upped their County mark to 2-0 and won for the fourth straight time Thursday, traveling to Fairlawn and winning in four games 25-19, 26-28, 25-9, 25-17.

Overall, Loramie is now 5-2. Fairlawn is 0-2 in the County and 2-2 on the year.

Fort Loramie got another huge game at the net from Caleigh Barhorst, who finished with 25 kills. Maddie Brandewie had 35 assists.

Defensively, Taylor Ernst had 22 digs, Jess Stephens 20, Brandewie 19 and Caleigh Barhorst 15.

Stephens also had four aces and Barhorst three, and Maeve Hilgefort had three blocks.

For Fairlawn, Audrey Francis had 11 kills and 30 digs, Paige Vondehuevel had 10 kills and 16 digs, and Mollie Roe had eight kills and 11 digs.

Chelsea Brautigam had 23 assists and added seven digs.

Loramie also won the JV game in two.

4th straight for Anna

RUSSIA — Anna won its fourth in a row and second straight in County play Thurday with a 25-12, 25-10, 25-16 win over Russia.

The Lady Rockets are now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the league. Russia drops to 3-2 and 0-1.

“The girls are playing well, starting to gel now,” said Anna coach Kelli Barhorst.

Krista Gehret had 10 kills to lead the Lady Rockets, Sarah Bettinger added seven and Kylie Kirtley added six.

Elizabeth Landis handed out 24 assists, Mackenzie Wells led in digs with 16 and Avery Bensman had 12.

Kennedey Glover had five total blocks, including one solo.

For the Lady Raiders, Cassie Pleiman had 18 digs, Rachel Heuing led in kills with 11 and Katie Swartz finished with 13 assists.

Anna won the junior varsity game in two, 25-18, 25-21, and also won both the 7th and 8th grade games in two.

Houston wins in 3

BOTKINS — Houston evened its record at 1-1 in the County and went to 3-2 overall with a 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 victory over Botkins in action Thursday.

The Lady Trojans fell to 0-2 in the league and 2-3 on the season.

For the winning Lady Wildcats. Katherine Everett had eight kills and Jenna Mounts eight digs. But the big things was serving — Jenna Green had four aces and both Allie Voisard and Mounts had three each.

For Botkins, Sami Vehorn had six kills and Sara Bergman five. Blake Maurer and Kylie Kohler each had eight assists.

Lady Cavs fall to ML

MARIA STEIN — The Lehman girls gave Marion Local a scare in a 25-21, 21-25, 30-28 25-16 loss to the Lady Flyers Tuesday.

“We had a lot of chances,” Lehman coach Greg Snipes said. “We were ahead most of the first game and were up 23-19 in the third game. There were some good things and there are some things we have to improve on so it can be a winning effort next time.”

Madeline Smith dished out 30 assists for the Lady Cavaliers, while Sidney Chapman had 22 kills, 11 digs and four aces. Madison Hussey had 14 kills, Maddy McFarland had seven kills and nine digs and Marianne Hissong added six kills.
