TROTWOOD — The Sidney High boys bowling team ran its record on the year to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference American North Division by defeating Trotwood easily in action Monday night.

The Jackets totaled 2,203 pins to 1,498 for the Rams.

Austin Simon led Sidney with a 437 series on games of 199 and 238, and Josh Abbott finished at 404 with games of 210 and 194.

Lucas Finke rolled a 193 and a 195 for a 388, and Matt Elliott added a 178 game.

“We were up by 400 pins after the first game, so I went with some bench players for the rest of the match,” said Sidney coach Trent Knoop. “Sometimes it’s hard getting that 7th and 8th guy on the bench playing time during a really close match, so it was nice to get them in. I also want to give credit to Trotwood’s coaching staff. It’s their first year ever coaching. I think they are doing a nice job with the program. I think they will do a good job of turning it around.”

• The Sidney Lady Jackets also won, for the first time this season. The 1,842-1,246 victory put Sidney at 1-1 in the American North and 1-4 overall.

Jenna Beatty led Sidney with a 391 series on games of 183 and 208. Heather Gold had a 342 that included a 194 game. Kathryn Saunders had a 304 series.

“The girls picked up their first victory of the season,” said Knoop. “It feels good, and I know the girls are happy. We have been right there in a lot of contests, but we haven’t been able to finish. We did a good job today. Our biggest issue has been baker games. When we lose, it’s because we fall apart in baker. We had a 165 today in baker, so that’s a good start.”

Sidney is off until Dec. 28, at West Carrollton.
