Staff report

The Lehman Cavaliers were hoping for their first win Wednesday night in action against Minster, but the Wildcats instead remained unbeaten on the year at 3-0 with a 56-26 victory in action at Lehman.

The loss leaves the Cavaliers at 0-3 and they will return to action Friday night in another non-league game against Marion Elgin at home.

The Wildcats go to 3-0 on the year after winning in what was their third game in five days. They will also be back in action Friday night in non-league play, hosting the Anna Rockets.

The first quarter was tight, with Minster holding an 11-9 lead when it was over. But the second quarter is when the Wildcats took control of the game.

Applying more pressure and forcing turnovers, the Wildcats began to pull away.

It was 14-11 when sophomore Mike Ketner drained a three-pointer and Jared Huelsman followed up a shot with a stickback to make it 19-11.

The lead reached double digits when Minster ran off three straight points to make it 23-13, and Isaac Schmiesing and Andrew Broering followed with buckets to push the lead to 27-13.

Minster held the ball for much of the last minute but was unable to score, and Lehman got a couple of free throws from Dylan Arnold to leave the score at 27-15 at the half.

Minster came out in the second half and scored seven of the first eight points to go up 34-16, but the Cavaliers had a spurt that forced a Minster timeout. Dylan Arnold converted two straight buckets to draw the Cavaliers within 34-20.

After a timeout, Minster scored on another putback to make it a 16-point lead. Arnold hit a free throw, but Andrew Broering scored to make it a 17-point lead again. Huelsman then connected on a three-pointer to push the lead out to 20 at 41-21.
