Anna, JC bothgo 4-0 in County,meet Thursday

HOUSTON — Anna remained unbeaten in County play and set up a big early-season match on Thursday against Jackson Center with a 3-0 win over Houston in volleyball action Tuesday.

The Lady Rockets won 25-16, 25-13, 25-11 to go to 4-0 in the league and 8-2 overall.

Houston drops to 1-4 and 5-5.

For Anna, Krista Gehret had 12 kills, Caileigh Kirtley six kills and Sarah Bettinger five kills.

Elizabeth Landis had 28 assists, Carly Becker had 13 digs and Avery Bensman added 10 digs.

Carly Becker had four ace serves and Kirtley three.

For Houston, Katherine Everett led in kills with four, Jenna Green had 11 digs and Jenna Mounts nine digs.

Anna also won the junior varsity game 25-21 and 25-11.

JC goes to 8-0

JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Lady Tigers went to 8-0 on the year with as 25-2, 25-18, 25-16 victory over Russia in County play.

The Lady Tigers are 4-0 in the league and 8-0 overall. They play at Anna on Thursday to decide the early leader in the conference.

Cassie Meyer had 15 kills and Erin Metz 10 for Jackson, Pauline Meyer had six kills and nine digs, Peyton Esser had 11 digs, Kamryn Elchert had 21 assists and Jayel Fyre 10 assists.

Russia won the JV match in three games.

MONDAY

Botkins tops IL

BOTKINS — The Botkins Lady Trojans hosted Indian Lake in a non-league volleyball match Saturday and after losing the first game, they came back to take the next three.

The scores were 19-25, 25-20, 25-19, 28-26, and the win put the Lady Trojans at 4-5 on the season.

Sami Vehorn had 11 kills for the Lady Trojans and Sara Bergman close behind with nine.

Blake Maurer had 13 assists, Jenna Pitts had 34 digs, and Taylor Doseck served six aces.

Botkins also won the junior varsity game in three.

Houston wins 3-0

HOUSTON — Houston took on Bradford at home Monday and won 25-13, 25-13, 25-12 to up its record on the year to 5-4.

Jenna Winner had six aces and five kills for Houston, and Jenna Mounts had seven assists.

NB downs Bremen

NEW BREMEN — Russia fell on the road to New Bremen Monday in three, 25-13, 25-17, 25-16.

The Lady Raiders fell to 4-4 with the loss. New Bremen is now 6-3.

For Russia, Cameo Wilson led in kills with nine. Whitney Pleiman had 15 digs and two ace.

For the Lady Cardinals, Paige Jones had 14 kills, eight digs and two aces, Kaitlyn Ahrns had nine kills, and Devon Heitkamp eight kills and 16 digs.

Kaitlyn Schwieterman handed out 34 assists, Ali Howell added nine digs, and Alyse Clune finished with eight digs.
