Sidney spikers lose to Vandalia

VANDALIA — The Sidney Lady Jackets lost in three games at Vandalia Tuesday night in Greater Western Ohio Conference North volleyball action.

The loss left Sidney at 0-1 in the league and 3-8 overall with Piqua coming to Sidney Middle School for a match tonight.

The scores against Vandalia were 25-13, 25-22, 25-19.

Sidney got 14 assists and nine digs from Kiana Calvert, seven kills from Adrienna Cook, and Grace Shell had eight digs.

The junior varsity also lost in three 25-13, 23-25, 25-21.

Payton Boshears had 14 assists and two aces, Allie Herrick had six aces, Alina Kindle had 16 digs and Jada Rowland had four kills.

Fairlawn downs

Botkins in four

BOTKINS — In a County match Tuesday night, Fairlawn defeated Botkins 25-19, 23-25, 25-12, 26-24.

The win gave the Lady Jets a 2-3 County mark to go with 8-3 overall. Botkins is 0-4 and 4-6.

The Lady Jets were led by Audrey Francis, who had 28 kills, 28 digs and three aces.

Chelsea Brautigam had 28 assists and 10 digs, Paige Vondenheuvel had eight digs and three aces and Lauren Weinschenk had 12 digs.

For the Lady Trojans, Jenna Pitts had 36 digs, Sami Vehorn 14 kills and Blake Maurer 12 assists.

Lady Cavs lose

to St. Henry 3-2

SIDNEY — Lehman took on St. Henry at home Tuesday night and lost in five games, 3-2.

The Lady Cavs, now 8-3, won the first game 25-19, lost the second 25-13, won the third 25-18, lost the fourth 25-17 then lost the deciding game 15-8.

St. Henry remained unbeaten at 10-0.

“St. Henry is undefeated, so I was happy we were able to take them to five sets,” Lehman coach Greg Snipes said. “I thought we played really well. It was good to see us play like that against a team like St. Henry. We weren’t there two weeks ago.”

Sidney Chapman had 23 kills and 20 digs, ande Madeline Smith dished out 40 assists and had 14 digs.

Madison Hussey had 30 digs, and Marianne Hissong had five kills and four blocks. Adrianna Sehlhorst added 10 digs.

Minster wins 3-1

MINSTER — The Minster Lady Wildcats played a non-league match against visiting St. Marys and came away with a 3-1 victory.

The Lady Wildcats, now 5-6, were led by Jordyn Heitbrink, who was unstoppable at the net with 19 kills. She had plenty of help, however. Hannah Schmitmeyer had 10 kills, Rosie Westerbeck nine, Paige Thobe eight and Katie Wuebker seven.

Hayley Baumer set them all up with 49 assists, and also had three service aces.

LeAnn Huelsman had 20 digs and five aces, Heitbrink added 16 digs, Schmitmeyer 15 digs, Baumer 11 digs and Wuebker 10 digs.
