Lady Cavs blank Botkins;No. 1 vs. No. 3 Saturday

BOTKINS — Lehman got on the board early and went on to blank the Botkins Lady Trojans in Western Ohio Soccer League action Thursday, 5-0 at Botkins Community Park.

The win puts the Lady Cavs at 6-1-1 on the season and 3-0 in the WOSL, and they can now turn their attention to a big test on Saturday when Cincinnati Summit Country Day comes to Lehman. Summit is the No. 1-ranked team in Ohio in Division 3, and Lehman is ranked third. Game time is 4 p.m.

Botkins is 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play.

“I was glad to see that the girls didn’t look past Botkins to the game we have coming up on Saturday,” said Lehman coach Jeremy Lorenzo. “Both teams played hard, but we were able to get our goals early.”

Lady Rockets win

over Delphos 3-1

ANNA — Anna made the long trip to Delphos to play St. John’s in Western Ohio Soccer League action and came away with a 3-1 victory Thursday night.

The win put Anna at 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the WOSL. Delphos is 3-5 and 0-2.

The Lady Rockets host Lincolnview in league play Saturday.

Anna scored first with 7:40 remaining in the first half on a goal by Riley Edwards. Raquel Bollheimer had the assist.

Bollheimer assisted again on the second goal, which was scored by Holly Boyd with 1:55 remaining in the first half. It broke a 1-1 tie and gave Anna a 2-1 lead at the half.

The final goal came from Bollheimer with 12:10 left in the game.

Anna outshot Delphos 32-6 and allowed the Lady Jays just one shot in the second half.

Anna goalie Kristin Grimes had three saves.

Lady Jackets

lose to Vandalia

VANDALIA — Sidney got three goals, all on free kicks from 40 to 45 yards out from Kaitlyn Davis, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Lady Jackets from dropping a 3-2 verdict to Vandalia in Greater Western Ohio Conference North girls soccer action Wednesday.

The loss drops Sidney to 0-1 in the division and 6-2-1 overall with Piqua coming to town next Wednesday. Vandalia is 1-0 and 7-1.

Davis’ goals had the Lady Jackets tied with the Lady Aviators, but Vandalia got the go-ahead goal 12 minutes into the second half.

The junior varsity game ended in a 1-1 tie.
