TROTWOOD — Sidney got off to a slow start and played from behind all night in losing 56-51 to Trotwood in a key Greater Western Ohio Conference girls basketball game Wednesday at Trotwood.

The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for the Lady Jackets and dropped them two games behind Tipp City in the GWOC American North standings.

Sidney is now 8-2 in the North and Tipp City 10-0, and it takes a bit of the luster off Saturday’s meeting at Sidney between the two teams.

Sidney, 11-5 overall, was down 16-8 after one quarter and was forced to play catch-up the rest of the night. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Jackets trailed just 37-35, and it was still just a one-point game with a minute remaining. But Trotwood scored the final four points of the game to pull out the win.

Trotwood is now 12-4 overall.

Sidney’s senior standout Celena Taborn finished with 33 points for the Lady Jackets, including 11 in the final period. She was 7-for-10 from the foul line for the game.

Alina Kindle added 10 points.
