ANNA — The Russia girls survived a road test Monday night in County girls basketball action, and remained just one game off the lead in the County standings with a 62-41 win over the Anna Lady Rockets.

The win put Russia at 7-2 in the league and 15-4 overall heading into their last three games of the regular season. They are all County games starting with Thursday at Botkins.

Anan drops to 3-7 in the County and 8-10 overall after its fourth loss in a row, and are back in action Saturday at home against Botkins. The Lady Rockets also lost 59-44 to Middletown Madison on Saturday.

Russia jumped out to a 16-9 lead after one quarter and stretched it to a 10-point margin at the half at 35-25. Anna then managed just 16 points in the second half.

The Lady Raiders shot 38 percent from the field on 20 for 53, and held Anna to just 29 percent on 14 for 49.

Russia had four players in double figures. Maria Herron had 14, Whitney Pleiman 13, and Cameo Wilson and Jenna Cordonnier 10 apiece.

Lehman 50, Piqua 36

PIQUA — Lehman used a big third quarter to nail down a win over Piqua on Monday, 50-36 in non-league play.

The Lady Cavs go to 8-9 overall heading to Ridgemont on Thursday.

Lehman led by seven at the half, then outscored the Lady Indians 14-4 in the third quarter.

Hannah Fogt hit 10 of her 12 field goal attempts and finished with 20 points for the Lady Cavs. She also had 14 rebounds for a double-double. Grace Monnin had three assists and three steals.

Houston 53, Fairlawn 31

Houston and Fairlawn played each other for the second game in a row, with the same outcome, the Lady Wildcats winning 53-31 in County play Monday.

Houston goes to 3-7 in the league and 6-12 overall going into Tuesday night’s game at Bradford.

Fairlawn is 0-9 and 0-17 and hosts Jackson Center Thursday.

Houston led 24-13 at the break, then opened it up to 38-20 after three quarters.

Kara Maier led the Lady Wildcats with 13 and Rebekah New added 12.

Madison Pierce led Fairlawn with 11, and McCalla Huelskamp dropped in 6-for-8 from the free throw line.

Riverside 50, Urbana 32

URBANA — Riverside went on the road and came home with a 50-32 rout of Urbana in non-league girls action Monday.

The win put the Lady Pirates at 3-15 on the year going into their next game Thursday at Upper Scioto Valley.

Dana Jones hit three threes and finished with 13 to lead Riverside.

The Lady Pirates trailed by three after a quarter and led by just four at the half. But they outscored Urbana 22-7 in the third quarter to put a win in the books.
