Lady Jackets fall to Piqua

SIDNEY — Sidney battled Piqua well Thursday night, but came out on the short end of a 3-0 final in Greater Western Ohio Conference North volleyball action at Sidney Middle School.

The scores were 25-20, 28-26, 25-15, and the verdicts left Sidney at 0-2 in the North and 3-9 overall with Indian Lake and Houston coming to the midle school for a tri-match today starting at 1o a.m.

Piqua goes to 2-0 and 5-4.

“We put great spurts together, but we just fell short,” said Sidney coach Lauren Morrow.

Amanda Thomas had a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs, and also added five blocks for Sidney. Grace Shell had 27 digs, MaKenzie Lambdin 15 and Emily Tolbert 14. Ally Spangler added eight kills and Carrie Nuss finished with 23 assists.

The Sidney junior varsity defeated Piqua 25-22, 25-12. Payton Boshears also had a double-double with 12 assists and 10 digs. She also served five aces.

Allie Herrick had 10 digs and Jada Rowland had five kills.

Bremen hands ML

first MAC setback

MARIA STEIN — New Bremen handed Marion Local its first Midwest Athletic Conference loss of the season Thursday with a 3-1 win, the scores being 25-18, 25-w21, 11-25, 25-22.

The Lady Cardinals go to 3-0 in the MAC and 7-3 overall. Marion is now 2-1 and 5-2.

Paige Jones was strong at the net again, finishing with 18 kills. She also had 14 digs, five ace serves and seven block-assists.

Devon Heitkamp had 11 kills and 14 digs, Kaitlyn Ahrns served had eight kills, three aces and 17 digs, Kaitlyn Schwieterman passed out 35 assists, Alyse Clune led the defense with 18 digs, and Ali Howell had 14 digs.

New Knoxville

beats Minster 3-0

NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Lady Rangers defeated Minster 3-1 in MAC volleyball Thursday, the scores being 25-17, 14-25, 25-22, 25-11.

The Lady Rangers go to 2-1 in the league and 7-3 overall with the win and drop Minster to 0-3 and 5-8.

Foer New Knoxville, Keizie Schroer had 38 assists and 17 digs and Madison Lammers had 13 kills, 21 digs and three aces.

Rachel Leffel and Shayna Bierlein both had nine kills and seven digs, Abby Lageman had 20 digs, Caitlin Lammers had six blocks, and Jenna Schwieterman had five kills and 22 digs.

Lady Cavs cruise

to league victory

SIDNEY — The Lehman volleyball team cruised to another Northwest Central Conference victory, defeating Waynesfield-Goshen 25-11, 25-5, 25-4 Thursday.

Madeline Smith dished out 38 assists, while Sidney Chapman had 16 kills and five aces.

Marianne Hissong had 12 kills and three aces, while Maddy McFarland added seven kills. Madison Hussey had 15 digs.

Lehman, 9-3 overall, will play at Celina Tuesday.

Riverside goes 3-0

in conference play

DEGRAFF — Riverside went to 3-0 in the Northwest Central Conference and 6-5 overall with a 3-1 win over Lima Perry Thursday. The scores were 21-25, 26-24, 25-19, 25-19.

Marissa Davis had 17 kills, 21 digs and five ace serves for the Lady Pirates, and Lauren Davis had 14 kills and three solo blocks.

Alexis Snow had 17 assists, 10 digs and three aces, and Helena Faulder had 11 assists and four aces. Kristin Davidson added 15 digs.
