Keller having strong season at Bluffton

Lehman graduate Ashley Keller is having a good freshman season so far for the women’s soccer team at Bluffton University.

Keller is currently tied for the team lead in goals scored with three, and has 10 shots on goal so far this season in five games for the 2-3 Lady Beavers.

She scored a goal in a 5-2 win over Marygrove, scored one in a 3-2 win over Mt. Union, and added another goal in a 4-3 overtime loss to Olivet.

The goal against Mt. Union came in the 65th minute and tied the game up at 1-1.

Meg Reineke, New Knoxville — Reineke had an amazing week in volleyball for Sinclair of Dayton, totaling 111 kills and 130 digs in five matches. She had 15 kills and 18 digs in a 3-0 win over Mercyhurst NE, 26 kills and 46 digs in a 3-2 win over Oakland Community College, 23 kills and 28 digs in a 3-2 win over Lorain County, 19 kills and 22 digs in a 3-1 loss to St. Clair, and 28 kills and 16 digs in a 3-1 win over Cincinnati State.

Ashley Borchers, Russia — Borchers had an outstanding week in volleyball at Ohio Northern, doing a little bit of everything for the Lady Polar Bears.

She had seven kills, 34 assists and one solo block in a 3-0 win over Illinois College, nine kills, 51 assists, five digs and two aces in a 3-1 win over Culver-Stockton (Missouri), 10 kills, 56 assists, 11 digs, two aces and four blocks in a 3-2 loss to Illinois Wesleyan, seven kills, 28 assists and seven digs in a 3-2 loss to No. 23 Coe, and five kills, 48 assists and five digs in a 3-1 win over Bluffton.

Claire Heitkamp, Marion Local — Heitkamp is a teammate of Borchers at Ohio Northern, and in action this week, she had seven kills against Illinois College, 10 kills against Culver-Stockton, 11 kills against Illinois Wesleyan, seven kills against Coe and 13 kills against Bluffton. She ranks fourth on the team in kills this season with 77.

Rachel Noffsinger, Anna — Noffsinger plays for Division 1 Tennessee-Martin, and in volleyball action this week, she had 11 kills and a .455 attack percentage against Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, and nine kills against Eastern Michigan.

Julie Hoying, Fort Loramie — Hoying continued her excellent play as the setter for Marian of Indiana. In action this week, she had 17 assists in a loss to Indiana Wesleyan, and 49 assists, 10 digs and four kills in a 3-1 loss to Huntington.

Amanda Winner, Versailles — Winner plays for the volleyball team at Findlay and had a good week. She had eight kills and 11 digs against Pitt-Johnstown, six kills and 11 digs against Mercyhurst, and 11 kills against Cedarville. Findlay won all three 3-0.

Corey Bremigan, Russia — Bremigan and his Trine golf teammates competed in the second Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference “jamboree” this week at Olivet, and the Russia grad shot a 76 to tie for 14th place.

Tori Thompson, Riverside — Thompson had a good week in volleyball at Ohio Dominican. She had 10 kills, 17 assists and four blocks in a 3-2 win over Rollins, 12 kills, 13 digs and three aces in a 3-2 win over Maryville, and six kills and seven digs in a 3-0 loss to Minnesota State-Mankato.

Ellie Cain, Lehman — Cain is the setter for D-1 Tennessee-Martin, and in action this week she had 12 assists in a 3-0 loss to Indiana State, 48 assists, five kills and 10 digs in a 3-1 loss to IPFW, and 52 assists and four kills in a 3-2 loss to Eastern Michigan.

Kelly Turner, Fort Loramie — Turner is a freshman on the volleyball team at Northern Kentucky, and had a good outing in a 3-1 win over Western Illinois. She finished with six kills and three block-assists.

Isaac Kuntz, New Knoxville — Kuntz led Heidelberg to first in the five-team Heidelberg Cross Country Invitational last weekend. He finished second overall in 16:10.4.

Matthew Tussing, Jackson Center — Tussing also runs for Heidelberg and he finished right behind Kuntz last week in third place in 16:36.9.

Devon Jester, Houston — Also a Heidelberg runner, Jester was sixth last week in the Heidelberg Invitational in 16:49.4.

Andrea Thobe, Lehman — Thobe is the setter for Wheeling Jesuit, and came up big in a 3-1 week for the team. She had 28 assists in a 3-0 win over Ashland, 50 assists and 10 digs in a 3-1 win over Colorado Mines, 49 assists and 12 digs in a 3-2 loss to Minnesota-Duluth, and 26 assists and eight digs in a 3-0 win over Urbana.

Jessica Thobe, Lehman — Thobe is a defensive specialist for Wheeling Jesuit and had 11 digs against Ashland, 14 against Colorado Mines, 24 against Minnesota-Duluth, and 10 against Urbana.

Erica Oldiges, Minster — Oldiges plays at Sinclair and had five kills to help her team against Cincinnati State.

Lauren Roetgerman, Minster — Roetgerman is a teammate of Oldiges at Sinclair and had seven kills against Oakland, and four kills, six digs and a solo block against Lorain County.

Calvin Milligan, Sidney — Milligan had rounds of 80 and 76 for a 156, which tied him for 20th in the Kuhn Memorial Golf Tournament at Allegheny. Milligan plays for Wooster.
