LIMA — New Bremen’s Hanna Tenkman hit a jumper with just over two seconds remaining to give the Lady Cardinals a 40-38 thriller over Waynesfield-Goshen in the first round of the Division 4 District Basketball Tournament in action at Lima Bath Wednesday.
The win puts the Lady Cardinals into the quarterfinals on Saturday at 8 p.m. against Lima Catholic. Bremen takes a 12-11 record into that game.
The Lady Cardinals let a seven-point lead after three quarters disappear, and looked to be in dire shape when they were called for a foul with the score tied and just 10 seconds remaining.
But the Waynesfield shooter missed the free throw, setting up Tenkman’s big shot to win it.
