FORT LORAMIE — Fort Loramie had 13 hits but committed five errors, and that allowed the St. Henry Lady Redskins to escape with an 11-7 victory in non-league girls softball action Saturday at Loramie.

“We struggled defensively in this game and it cost us,” said Loramie coach Brad Turner. “We were able to get out of a couple of jams early but when our pitchers were under stress all game due to errors and lack of making plays, we finally gave way and St. Henry took advantage. The three runs they scored in the fourth were big.

“The offense was there today as we had 13 hits,” he added. “But we also gave up five errors and left another couple of plays out there that weren’t errors in the scorebook but could have been made.”

The home Lady Redskins scored twice in the bottom of the third to take a 5-4 lead, only to lose the lead when St. Henry scored three in the fourth and three more in the fifth.

Loramie got three hits from Alaina Pleiman, who also scored three times. Two of her hits were doubles.

Five other players had two hits each, including Abby Holthaus, Megan Koppin, Cassidy Albers, Morgan Holscher and Grace Ruhenkamp. Both of Holthaus’s hits were doubles, and so was one of Koppin’s.

Holscher and Ruhenkamp both drove in two runs, and Holscher also scored twice.

For St. Henry, Brooke Borgerding had three hits and drove in three runs, and Robyn Lefeld and three hits.
