Staff report

TROY – One night after shutting out Troy 7-0, the Sidney Lady Jackets had the tables turned, losing to the Lady Trojans 4-1 in Greater Western Ohio Conference American North action at Troy Tuesday.

The loss left Sidney at 4-2 in the GWOC North and 6-4 overall, and they are now two games behind league-leading Greenville.

“We were flat,” said Sidney coach Wade New. “We made two big base-running mistakes that hurt us and took us out of potential big innings.”

The Lady Jackets broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fifth, but in the bottom of the sixth Troy struck for four runs thanks to a triple and a two-run homer.

Summer Inman was 2-for-4 for Sidney and Maddie White added a double. Pitcher Grace Shell struck out eight and allowed just four hits.
