11th straight for Lady Tigers

JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center rolled to its 11th consecutive victory Tuesday night in volleyball action, beating Fort Loramie 3-0 in County play.

The scores were 25-13, 25-12, 25-19 and the win gave the second-ranked Lady Tigers a perfect first round in league play at 6-0 to go with their 11-0 overall mark heading into action tonight at home against Houston. They play at No. 5 Lehman on Saturday.

Fort Loramie, ranked No. 8 this week, falls two games behind the Lady Tigers in the County at 4-2 and is now 9-6 overall with a trip to Botkins tonight.

Cassie Meyer had 10 kills, three aces and eight digs for the Lady Tigers, Pauline Meyer had five kills and 16 digs, Jayel Frye had eight assists, Peyton Esser had 15 digs, Kamryn Elchert seven digs, and Vanessa Winner added four kills.

Fort Loramie got eight kills from Caleigh Barhorst and five from Sara Stang. Taylor Ernst and Maddie Brandewie had 13 digs each, and Brandewie added eight assists.

Fort Loramie was victorious in both junior high games as well as freshman and junior varsity.

1000th assist

for NK’s Schroer

ROCKFORD — No. 14-ranked New Knoxville coasted to a 3-0 win over Parkway in Midwest Athletic Conference play Tuesday night in a match highlighted by a Lady Ranger player reaching a milestone.

Knoxville’s Kenzie Schroer, still just a junior, handed out her 1,000th assist in the match, one of 30 she had against the Lady Panthers. She also added five kills and 17 digs.

Rachel Leffel had 10 kills, 13 digs and three ace serves, Jenna Schwieterman had 17 digs and six kills, Ashlyn Miller had 12 digs and five kills, and Abby Lageman led the defense with 25 digs.

Lady Cardinals

beat Recovery

FORT RECOVERY — The New Bremen Lady Cardinals, ranked No. 12 this week, went down 2-0 before rallying back to defeat Fort Recovery 3-2 in Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball action Tuesday night.

The win kept Bremen unbeaten in the MAC at 4-0 and put them 8-4 overall. The scores Tuesday were 20-25, 12-25, 25-20, 25-9, 15-9.

Three Lady Cardinals had double-doubles, with Devon Heitkamp getting 13 kills and 13 digs, Paige Jones 12 kills and 13 digs and Kaitlyn Ahrns 10 kills and 12 digs. Jones also added two solo blocks.

Kaitlyn Schwieterman finished with 27 assists and eight digs, Logan Wells had five kills and seven digs, and Ali Howell had nine digs.

Lady Cavs fall

to Celina 3-2

CELINA — Lehman won the first two games 28-26, 26-14, but Celina came back to take the next three and hand the Lady Cavs their fourth setback of the season in non-league play Tuesday night.

The scores of the last three games were 25-19, 25-23, 15-11, and it left Lehman at 9-4 heading into league action tonight at Riverside.

Celina is now 5-7.

For the Lady Cavs, Sidney Chapman had 25 kills and Maddy McFarland 13. Marianne Hissong added seven kills.

Madison Hussey had 22 digs, Chapman 21 and Madeline Smith 10 to go with 45 assists. Allie Hall had two solo blocks and six total blocks.
