SIDNEY — The Anna girls spotted Fairlawn a one-game lead before coming back to take the next three in County volleyball action at Fairlawn Thursday.

The win by scores of 18-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-21 gave the Lady Rockets a 6-1 County mark and an 11-4 overall record heading into a game at home Saturday against Houston.

Fairlawn drops to 3-4 in the league and 10-4 overall and hosts Indian Lake Saturday.

Sarah Bettinger had 19 kills, Krista Gehret 11 and Kennedey Glover 10 for the Lady Rockets.

Elizabeth Landis had 46 assists and 11 digs. Mackenzie Wells had 25 digs, Avery Bensman 19 and Paige Richard 10.

Caileigh Kirtley had six block-assists, and Glover had five block-assists and three solo blocks.

Fairlawn was led by Paige Vondenheuvel on offense with 14 kills. Audrey Francis had 11 kills and 25 digs, Chelsea Brautigam had 30 assists and 12 digs and Mollie Roe had nine kills and 14 digs.

Anna won the junior varsity game 25-10, 25-13.

Lady Redskins win

3-0 over Botkins

BOTKINS — Fort Loramie won 25-17, 25-19, 25-14 over Botkins in a County match Thursday.

The Lady Redskins are now 5-2 in the County and 10-6 overall. Botkins is 0-7 and 4-9.

“Our effort was great tonight,” said Loramie coach John Rodgers. “Botkins has a nice team and their size frustrates us from time to time. We pushed through some rough spots and finished strong in all three sets.”

Caleigh Barhorst had 12 kills for Loramie and Sara Stang six. Maddi Brandewie had 21 assists and Taylor Ernst had 12 digs. Brandewie added nine.

For Botkins, Sami Vehorn and Casey Woodell both had six kills, Jenns Pitts 18 digs, and Blake Maurer nine assists.

Loramie also won the JV game.

JC goes to 12-0

JACKSON CENTER — The No. 2-ranked Jackson Center Tigers beat Houston 25-7, 25-11, 25-13 in the third County game of the night Thursday.

The Lady Tigers, who face a stiff challenge Saturday at Lehman, got a double-double of 13 assists and 10 digs from Jayel Frye, 13 kills and three aces from Cassie Meyer, eight kills each from Alicia Kessler and Erin Metz, and seven assists and four aces from Kamryn Elchert. Metz also had two aces.

For Houston, Jenna Mounts had 13 digs and Jenna Winner and Jenna Green 10 apiece.

Jackson Center goes to 7-0 in the league and 12-0 overall. Houston is 1-6 and 5-7.

Jackson won the JV game in two.
