Fairlawn boys win at Sidney

Sidney hosted the Sidney Middle School Track Invitational on Monday afternoon/evening, with 11 boys teams and 12 girls teams taking part.

The teams emerging as champions when it was over were the Fairlawn boys and the Troy girls.

Boys

The Fairlawn boys finished with 91 points to 84.5 for runner-up Bellefontaine. Sidney placed fourth, Lehman was fifth and New Knoxville 10th.

Jackson Jones had a big meet for Fairlawn. He won the 100 dash in 11.96, won the high jump by clearing 5-feet, 9-inches, and was second in the long jump with a distance of 17-2.5.

Fairlawn also got a first from its 800 relay team of Maddy, Piper, Piper and Kempfer. They ran a 49.12.

In addition, Allan Asher was second in the 200 in 25.29, Jordan Lessing was second in the 200 hurdles in 28.76, with teammate Drew Maddy right behind, and Ashton Piper was second in the shot put with a heave of 38-8.

Sidney had two first-place finishes, from the 1600 relay team of Waterson, Guinther, Joseph and Spangler, in 4:04.81, and from Braden Guinther in the pole vault at 8-feet even.

The 400 relay team was second in 49.55

For Lehman, Drew Ivy won the 200 dash in 25.01 and was second in the 100 in 12.27. He also ran on the first-place 400 relay team with Petersen, Pierre and Kempfer. They ran a 49.12.

New Knoxville’s top finish was a second by Sam Anspach in the discus at 117-10.

Girls

The Lehman girls were second to Troy’s 153 points with 91, and New Knoxville was third with 66. Sidney was fifth with 55 and Fairlawn ninth with 21.5.

Lindsey Magoteaux led Lehman to its runner-up finish. She won the 100 in 12.95, the 200 in 26.55 and ran on the winning 400 relay team with Greene, Monnin and Dexter. They ran a 53.54.

Lehman also got a win from Emma Kennedy in the shot put at 31-8, a second from the 1600 relay team, and a second from Anna Cianciolo in the long jump at 13-4.

New Knoxville got a win from Casyn Henschen in the high jump at 4-9, and a pair of runner-up finishes, from Avery Henschen in the discus at 80-8 and Gretchen Dwenger in the 100 hurdles in 18.75.

Sidney’s Montana Stephens won the 1600 run in 5:58.86.
