Sidney beats Vandalia again, 12-7

VANDALIA — Sidney made it two straight in two days over Vandalia, going on the road and winning 12-7 in Greater Western Ohio Conference American North play.

Sidney is now 8-3 in the North and 10-9 overall.

The Lady Jackets sprayed 17 hits around the diamond, 16 of them singles.

Summer Inman had three singles and a double for Sidney, Grace Shell was 4-for-5, Kacey Swiger had three hits and three RBIs, Hayden Spurgeon had two singles and Morgan Carey drove in three runs.

Parkway 13, Loramie 0

ROCKFORD — Fort Loramie ran into one of the top teams in the state and came away a 13-0 loser in action at Parkway.

Fort Loramie is now 5-12 on the year and Parkway, ranked fifth in the state in Division 4, is 12-1.

“We kept them from scoring the first couple innings, but opened up the flood gates with some costly errors,” said Loramie coach Brad Turner. “And their bats came alive as well.”

Parkway led 8-0 after back-to-back four-run innings in the third and fourth. Then in the sixth, Loramie intentionally walked a batter to load the bases and the next hitter, A. Corey, hit a grand slam to end the game on the 10-run rule.

For Loramie, there were just three singles.

Minster 5, Versailles 4

MINSTER — Minster and Versailles traded four-run innings, then needed an extra frame to decide it.

In the bottom of the eighth, Minster pushed a run across to come away with a 5-4 victory in Midwest Athletic Conference action.

The win put Minster at 2-2 in the league and 14-6 overall. Versailles saw its nine-game winning streak snapped and it now 2-3 in the league and 13-7 overall.

Minster got four in the first and Versailles four in the fifth, and that was it until the seventh.

Kami McEldowney and Mallory George had two hits each for Versailles and Mara Schmiesing had two hits for Minster. Versailles’ Sarah Gigandet drove in two runs for Versailles.

Jackson 14, Botkins 4

JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center scored five times in the second to break a 1-1 tie and went on to beat Botkins 14-4 in six innings Tuesday in County play.

Jackson goes to 3-3 in the league and 6-6 overall. Botkins is now 1-7 and 1-13.

The Lady Tigers led 8-4 going to the bottom of the sixth and plated six runs to end it.

For Jackson, Katelyn Sosby had two singles and a double, Cassie Meyer had two hits and drove in three, and Riley Jackson had a triple and drove in four.

For Botkins, Ashleigh Gibson was 3-for-4.
