The Versailles boys and girls golf teams made it a clean sweep of the Midwest Athletic Conference golf tournaments Saturday, each taking the team title.

The boys team shot a 346 to beat runner-up St. Henry by four strokes in action at Arrowhead in Minster. Minster was seventh, Marion Local eighth, New Knoxville ninth and New Bremen 10th.

In the final overall league standings, which also takes into account the regular-season dual meets, St. Henry was first and Versailles second.

On Saturday, Michael Hemmelgarn led the Tigers with an 82, Nicholas Litten Stonebraker had an 87, Kyle Cotner 88 and Griffen Riegle 89.

Minster was led by Jordan Brackman and Ben Stubgs, each with 91, Collin Fleck led Marion with an 88, and Hunter McMurry had an 88 to lead Knoxville.

Girls

Versailles finished six strokes ahead of St. Henry for the tournament championship, and it gave the Lady Tigers a clean sweep as they also won the overall league championship.

In the tournament Saturday at the Mercer County Elks, Maddie Covault shot an 80, Jorja Pothast and Lauren Heitkamp both added 93, and Lauren Durham finished with a 100.

Covault earned MAC Player of the Year honors for her performance this season.

Minster was third and led by Alli Fischer’s 84.
