Miamisburg 8, Sidney 3

Sidney ran into a strong Miamisburg team in non-league action Thursday, and played well. But late-inning scoring by the visitors led to an 8-3 setback for the Lady Jackets.

Sidney falls to 10-10 in the league, and Miamisburg is now 13-4.

“Despite the score, we played really well,” said Sidney coach Wade New. “Their pitcher is the best we’ve faced this season, and we only struck out four times against her. So we put the ball in play.”

Miamisburg’s pitcher was Aubrey Azbill, 10-2 on the year with 72 strikeouts. Sidney ace Grace Shell was matching her pitch for pitch, but Miamisburg had 13 hits and 10 of those came in the last three innings, when the Lady Vikings scored all their runs.

Summer Inman and Shell were both 2-for-4 for Sidney, with one of Inman’s being a double. Morgan Carey had a two-run double and Regan Carey a solo home run.
