RUSSIA — Russia moved closer to an outright County softball championship Monday with a 7-0 blanking of visiting Anna.

The win gave the Lady Raiders a 9-0 record in league play, and they maintained their two-game lead over Houston with just three games remaining. Overall, Russia is now 15-5.

Anna drops to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the league.

Grace Saunders led the Lady Raiders, pitching a three-hitter and also smacking a two-run home run. Lexi Monnin added two hits for Russia.

Greenville 10, Sidney 0

GREENVILLE — The Sidney girls traveled to Greenville to take on the perennial North Division champions, and came away a 10-0 loser in five innings.

Greenville, which has clinched its seventh consecutive GWOC North championship, is now 20-3 on the year and a perfect 13-0 in the division.

Sidney dropped to 11-11 with the loss, including 9-4 in league play. The Lady Jackets host Greenville Tuesday.

Sidney managed just three hits off Greenville pitcher Bailey Petry, who ran her record to 21-3. Two of Sidney’s hits came from Morgan Carey.

Houston 11, Fairlawn 2

HOUSTON — Houston breezed to an 11-2 win over Fairlawn in County action Monday, keeping alive its slim hopes in the league race.

Houston is 7-2 in the league now and still trailed Russia by two games with just three to play. Overall, the Lady Wildcats are 10-9.

Three Houston pitchers combined on a no-hitter in a game that went all seven innings. Brooklyn Felver started and struck out eight in four innings. Allisen Foster and Emilee Foster followed her to the mound.

Cheyenne Juillerat doubled and scored three runs for Houston, Olivia Bowser, Jess Monnier and Kaytlyn Riffell all had two hits and Jenna Jarrett doubled.

WL-Salem 5, Minster 2

WEST LIBERTY — Minster made the lengthy trip to West Liberty-Salem for a softball game Monday and despite scoring twice in the top of the first, lost to the Lady Tigers 5-2 in non-league action.

The loss left Minster at 16-5 on the season. Salem is now 15-7.

West Liberty pitcher Kelsey Day limited Minster to just one hit, striking out six.

Versailles 16, SM 3

ST. MARYS — Versailles also played a non-league game and had an easy time with St. Marys, winning 16-3 Monday on the road.

The win put the Lady Tigers at 15-7 on the season.

The game was tied at 2-2 after three innings, but Versailles plated three in the fourth and seven in the fifth. A five-run sixth led to the game ending after six innings.

Caitlin McEldowney was 4-for-5 for Versailles, with four runs scored. Two of her hits were doubles. She also pitched all six innings and allowed just one hit.

Sarah Gigandet was also 4-for-5 with four RBIs, and she scored twice, and Kami McEldowney was 3-for-5 with a home run and a double. She also drove in four runs and scored twice.

Hailey McEldowney had two hits and Kate Stammen had a double.
