Sidney boys soccer winsover Lima Catholic 3-1

SIDNEY — The Sidney boys upped their record on the year to 6-2-2 with a 3-1 victory over visirting Lima Catholic in non-league action on Saturday.

Sidney’s goals came from Elliott Wilson, Quenton McKenzie and Ben McClain. AustinEpperly had an assists and Ben Snvaley had two saves.

Sidney outshot Lima 15-5 and had nine shots on target to just two for the Thunderbirds.

“It was a very solid performance,” said coach Daniel Wicks. “We’ve been focusing a lot on possession and taking our chances when they come. I thought we controlled the game very comfortably. The only fault is that we conceded a very sloppy goal toward the end of the game. We’re still working to get to our best form so we are ready for the tournament.”

Botkins ties 1-1

DAYTON — Botkins traveled to Miami Valley School Monday and played to a 1-1 draw.

The Trojans’ goal was scored by Kaleb Hanby with an assist from Nolan Greve.

Botkins is back in action Thursday at New Knoxville for a 5 p.m. game.

JC wins 3-0

JACKSON CENTER — Jackson Center upped its record to 4-6-1 on the season with a 3-0 shutout of visiting Emmanuel Christian in action Monday.

The Tigers dominated, with 23 shots on goal. Gavin Booser had two goals and Bryce Sosby one.

Trevor Elliott had four saves and teams with Kennadie Reese, Ethan Zorn, Alan Nash and Olivia Clark to post the shutout.

Anna wins 10th

PITSBURG — Anna reached double figures in wins for the season with a 2-0 blanking of Franklin Monroe in non-league girls soccer action Monday.

The win puts the Lady Rockets at 10-1 on the season heading into their biggest challenge of the campaign, Thursday at Lehman at 5 p.m.

In the latest Miami Valley Coaches Poll, Lehman is No. 1 in Division 3 and Anna is No. 9.

Anna got its first goal from Sarah Kettler with 29:32 left in the first half, off an assist by Raquel Bollheimer.

The second goal came from Bollheimer unassisted with 16:20 left in the game. She dribbled up the middle and when the goalie came out, Bollheimer went around her and scored.

Kristim Grimes had six saves the Lady Rockets.
