ANNA — Anna remained one behind Jackson Center in the County volleyball standings with a 3-0 victory over visiting Russia Tuesday.

The scores were 25-14, 25-15, 25-14.

Anna is now 8-1 in the league and 13-4 overall. Russia drops to 2-5 and 6-10.

Krista Gehret and Sarah Bettinger had 11 kills apiece and Caileigh Kirtley added five. Elizabeth Landis handed out 30 assists.

Mackenzie Wells had 20 digs and four aces to lead in both categories, Avery Bensmanhad 15 digs, Carly Becker 14 and landis 10. Landis and Kirtley both had four block-assist.

Cassie Pleiman had 21 digs for Russia and Katie Swartz seven assists. Laurissa Poling had two solo blocks.

Russia won the junior varsity game 25-15, 25-18.

Houston wins 3-1

HOUSTON – Houston went to 2-7 in the County and 7-9 overall with a 3-1 victory over Botkins in County play Tuesday.

The scores were 25-16, 25-19, 23-25, 25-18.

The loss left Botkins at 0-8 in the league and 5-12 overall.

For the Lady Wildcats, Jenna Mounts had 10 kills, Sarah Monnier seven and Jenna Winner six. All three also had three ace serves.

Jenna Green had 17 digs, Sarah Monnier 15, Jenna Mounts 14 and Katherine Everett 13. And Everett added 16 assists and Mounts nine.

Houston won the JV game 2-0.

Loramie wins 3-1

FORT LORAMIE — Fort Loramie and Fairlawn went four games, and the Lady Redskins prevailed in County play Tuesday.

Loramie lost the first game 25-21, but came back to take the next three 25-12, 25-19, 25-22.

Caileigh Barhorst had 19 kills, Sarah Stang 11 and Brooke Ruhenkamp eight.

Maddi Brandewie handed out 35 assists, Barhorst added 22 digs and Taylor Ernst 21 digs.

JC goes 14-0

NEW KNOXVILLE — No. 2-ranked Jackson Center took on another strong opponent Saturday and took care of them in three games.

This time it was at New Knoxvile, and the Lady Tigers won 25-13, 25-12, 26-24 to up their record on the year to 14-0. The Lady Rangers are now 9-5.

For Jackson, Cassie Meyer had 11 kills and 10 digs and Pauline Meyer nine kills, seven digs and two blocks.

Kamryn Elchert handed out 20 assists, PeytonEsser had 11 digs and ChristenWare added eight kills.

For the Lady Rangers, Kenzie Schroer had 22 assists and 12 digs, Ashlyn Miller had nine kills and seven digs, Jenna Schwieterman had 11 digs, and Shayna Bierlein had 10 digs. She and Caitlin Lammers both had four kills.

Russia downs Piqua

RUSSIA — Russia stepped up in class and took on Division 1 Piqua in non-league action Monday night and came away with a 3-1 victory, the scores being 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.

Russia went to 7-9 with the victory and dropped Piqua to 9-7.

For Russia, Christina Gaerke had eight kills and three solo blocks, Cassie Pleiman had 32 digs and Whitney Pleiman 18, Katie Swarta had 16 assists and Chloe Sherman served four aces.

The Russia junior varsity also won, 25-16, 25-22.
