The County Track Meet opened Wednesday afternoon at Fairlawn, and three new meet records were set, two of them in the high school meet.

Fort Loramie’s outstanding 3200 relay team of Alan Holdheide, Tom Ballas, Jake Rethman and Joe Ballas ran an 8:00.79 to shatter the previous record by just under 10 seconds.

And Botkins standout Josh Miller won the discus with a toss of 159-2 to break the previous mark of 158-7 set back in 2015 by Nick Colby of Russia.

In addition, there was one new record set in the junior high meet, by Jackson Jones of Fairlawn. He soared 19 feet, 2 inches to break a record that had stood for over 10 years. The previous mark was 18-8.5 set back in 2006 by Danny Stewart of Anna.

There were seven finals held in the high school competition, five of them being field events, along with the 3200 relay for both boys and girls.

Going into Friday’s finals, the Fort Loramie boys hold a slim lead with 30 points to 26 for Anna and 22 for Russia. Fairlawn is at 19, Botkins 13, Houston 12 and Jackson Center 1.

On the girls side, Anna holds a 10-point lead with 27 points over Houston. Russia had 16, Botkins, 15, Fort Loramie 14, Jackson 2 and Fairlawn 1.

MAC meet

NEW BREMEN – The Midwest Athletic Conference meet got underway Tuesday night at New Bremen, with finals in the 3200 relay and all of the field events with the exception of the boys pole vault.

The Minster girls rolled up 54.5 points on the first day to lead second-place New Bremen’s 46.

Versailles holds a 14-point lead over Minster in the boys team standings so far.
