TROY — Sidney High School freshman Prem Dev is capping off an already outstanding season with a lengthy stay in the postseason.

Dev will be playing in the sectional finals finals on Saturday, having already been guaranteed a spot in the Division 1 District Tournament next week at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

When the sectional opened at Troy on Wednesday, Dev had a first-round bye, then defeated Ethan Cundiff, a fellow freshman, of Springfield 6-0, 6-1. He was then matched against junior Troy Luken of Vandalia, and defeated him easily 6-0, 6-2.

He advanced to the semifinals against senior Michael Green of Tecumseh, and claimed a 6-2, 6-0 victory.

He is the first district qualifier from Sidney since Austin Kleman made it ten years ago, back in 2007.

On Saturday, he will take on junior Mitchell Foland of Tecumseh, and will be playing for a better round-one opponent at the districts, where first plays fourth and second plays third in the first round.

He is now 18-3 on the season.
