ST. PARIS — The Division 2 track and field teams started their district meets Thursday night at Graham High School, and boys from Anna, and boys and girls from Versailles have earned spots in next week’s regional meet.
Anna was represented by the boys only, since the girls are in Division 3.
The top four finishers in each event advance to the regional meet.
The Anna boys 3200 relay team of Patrick Toller, Bradley Burden, Lucas Huber and Joel Gaier took third place in 8:27.03. That was one place behind the Versailles team of Huelskamp, Pleiman, Blakeley and Spitzer. They ran an 8:24.03 for second place.
In the girls 3200 finals, Versailles was third with the team of Langenkamp, Schulze, Rismiller and McEldowney. They finished in 10:14.5 to earn a spot in the regional meet.
Finals were held in the pole vault and Anna’s Logan Konst advanced to the regional with a second-place finish. He cleared 13 feet, 6 inches. And right behind him in third place at the same height was Versailles’ Luke Shellhaas.
The Versailles boys also had a qualifier in the long jump. Kyle Jones went 20 feet, 5 inches to finish in third place.
In Division 1 district action on Wednesday night, Sidney High’s Javon Purk became a regional qualifier in the discus by finishing in third place in action at Wayne High School. His distance was 144 feet, 7 inches.
The D-1 meet continues Friday night.
