Russia, Loramie, Versaillesgolfers earn spots in district

VERSAILLES — Two County teams and Versailles were among the four girls golf teams to qualify for the district as a result of their play Wednesday in the Division II Sectional Tournament at Stillwater Valley Golf Course in Versailles.

Versailles took first place with a 393, Russia was second with a 404, Miami East took third with 407 and Fort Loramie’s 416 was good enough for fourth.

Fort Loramie’s Emily Knouff took medalist honors with a 75.

The qualifying teams will play in the district tournament next Wednesday at Pipestone in Miamisburg, hoping to earn trips to the state tournament. The top three teams plus the top three individuals not on a qualifying team will advance to the state tournament.

For Versailles, Maddie Covault led the way with a 90.

Russia was led by a pair of 98s from Lizzie Adams and Alicia George.

Russia — Lizzie Adams 98, Alicia George 98, Maddie Borchers 99, Kara Barlage 109.

Fort Loramie —- Emily Knouff 75 (medalist), Megan Koppin 111, Rylee Poeppelman 113, Amy Eilerman 117.
