Staff report

TROY — The Fort Loramie boys followed up their district track championship with a regional title Friday in the finals of the Division 3 meet at Troy Memorial Stadium.

And to no one’s surprise, the Minster girls were clearly the class of the field in winning yet another regional crown.

Fort Loramie won with 74 points to 48 for runner-up TV South.

Competitors in each event had to finish in the top four to qualify for the state meet next weekend at Ohio State, and there is a long list from the area.

For the Loramie boys on Friday, Jarrett Meyer qualified in the 110 hurdles, Tom Ballas in the 1600, Joe Ballas in the 800, and Collin Detrick in the shot put. The 800 relay team also qualified.

Josh Miller won his second regional championship, adding the shot put to his discus title. His distance was 57-0.75.

• In the girls competition, Anna had three relay teams bring home regional championships, and one of them set a new regional record. The 800 relay team ran a 1:42.98 to set a new standard with the team of Rachel Shoemaker, Hannah Shoemaker, Krista Gehret and Kennedey Glover. Anna also won the 400 and 1600 relays.

Russia had two regional champions, with Grace York first in the 800 and Emily Bohman winning the pole vault.

Minster was first with 85 points and Anna took second with 50.

Division 2

Konst qualifies

in pole vault

LEXINGTON — The Anna and Versailles boys both competed in the Division 2 Regional Track Meet at Lexington Thursday, and Anna pole vaulter Logan Konst will be back at the State Track Meet next week.

Konst, a state qualifier as both a freshman and a sophomore in Division 3, missed out on qualifying for state last year when Anna’s boys moved up to D-2. But on Thursday night, he cleared 13 feet, 6 inches to place third and again punch his ticket to the state meet next week.

Unfortunately, despite running their best time of the season by nearly 10 seconds, the Anna 3200 relay team finished eighth and out of a top-four qualifying spot. The foursome of Joel Gaier, Patrick Toller, Bradley Burden and Lucas Huber ran an 8:09.38.

The Versailles 3200 relay team of Blakeley, Pleiman, Mangen and Spitzer also ran its best time of the season, an 8:12.87, but finished back in 12th place.

The four teams that qualified in the 3200 relay all had times under eight minutes.

The finals will be on Saturday, and Anna will have Gaier running in the 800 and Huber in the 3200.

Anna’s Kennedey Glover heads for the finish in the 800 relay at the Division 3 Regional meet Friday at Troy. Anna set a new regional record in the event.
