The Sidney High girls tennis team competed in the Division I Sectional Tournament Tuesday and had a foubles team advance to the third round and finish just one win away from a district berth.

That twosome was Hannah Brown and Kathryn Saunders. They beat Wayne 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, then defeated Tecumseh 6-3, 6-1. They then lost to No. 2-seeded Northmont 6-0, 6-0.

The doubles team of Auanna Edens and Naomi Riegel beat Northmont 6-4, 6-1, but lost in the next round to Troy 7-6, 6-2.

All three singles players lost their first matches, Desire Newton to Stebbins 6-2, 6-2; Marie Butts to Tecumseh 6-2, 6-1; and Madison Frank to Northmont 6-1, 6-0.
