LIMA — Sidney Post 217 took on the Lima Locos on Monday night on the road and was edged 3-2, leaving them at 4-5 on the season.

The Locos are a summer college team that plays in the Great Lakes League.

“We held our own against them,” said Sidney coach Jim Koewler.

There wasn’t much offense — Lima managed only three hits and Post 217 just two. However, Sidney pitchers Liles and Tyler Louden walked five and hit two.

Sidney’s only hits were singles by Billing and McLain.

All the runs by the Locos came in the bottom of the first in two singles, a walk and a Sidney throwing error.

Sidney’s runs came in the sixth without benefit of a hit. There were three walks, a wild pitch and two passed balls.

“We got another good pitching performance from Maddox, followed by Tyler in the bottom of the seventh,” Koewler said. “It we continue to get pitching like we have and our offense gets better, we’ll win quite a few games. I’ve got a good group of players who are very competitive. They got to see some very good pitching from college players (Monday). One of their pitchers was throwing right at 93 miles per hour.”

Sidney is back in action (today) Wednesday at home against Napoleon.

Sunday

ASHLAND — Sidney rolled to a 18-5 win over Ashland in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday in American Legion baseball action.
