Loramie boys continue strong start

After edging Minster by two strokes on Friday, the Fort Loramie boys golf followed that up by winning the Shelby County League preview at Shelby Oaks.

The Redskins finished with a 331 while Anna was second at 342 and Jackson Center third at 369.

Loramie had consistency across the board as five players shot in the 80’s , led by Shea Swick, who tied for third with Anna’s Eli Kuck with an 80. Craig Eilerman carded an 82, Mitchell Puthoff 84, Zach Pleiman 85 and Eli Rosengarten 86.

“Competing against Minster Friday helped, but with all five of those guys back from last year, having that experience was more important,” said Redskin coach Brad Turner. “If we can continue to have that consistency, we will have a very successful season.”

Mason Platfoot paced Anna as he tied for medalist honors with Nick Fischio of Botkins, both shooting a 76. Platfoot carded a 35 in the South nine holes while Fischio had a 37 in the South and a 39 in the West.

Sidney competes in GWOC preview

The Sidney golf team opened its season Monday at the Greater Western Ohio Conference preview at Beechwood, finishing 11th of 18 teams.

Kyle Noble was the top finisher for the Jackets, tying for 22nd with an 84. Jared Lindsey shot an 86, Ben Spangler 98 and Spencer Karn and Mitch Larger each had a 111.

Loramie second at Cardinal Invite

Loramie continued its strong early start to the season on Tuesday by placing second of 13 teams at the Cardinal Invitational at Arrowhead.

Pleiman led the way for the Redskins, who finished with a team score of 343, with an 84 while Craig Eilerman and Puthoff each had 85.

Minster finished third, just one stroke behind Loramie, as Adam Knapke had an 85, Logan Lazier and Joseph Magoto 86 and Grant Koenig 87. Anna was fourth and Lehman fifth as the Cavaliers’ Tyler Lachey placed second overall with a 79.

Lady Tigers win Lady Bucc Invite

Fort Loramie, New Bremen and Versailles competed in girls golf action Monday at the Covington Lady Bucc Invitational at Echo Hills.

Versailles won the nine-team tournament, with Bremen placing fourth and Loramie seventh.

Lauren Durham led the way for the Tigers as she finished fifth with an 86 while Morgan Barlage tied for seventh with a 91.
