SIDNEY — Jake Emrick had the best single-game performance in Lehman Catholic’s history on Tuesday in a 7-0 win over Fairlawn. Emrick scored all seven goals for the Cavilers, which breaks the school’s single-game record.

“Needless to say, Jake was in a zone,” Lehman coach Tom Wiseman said. “It was a privilege to watch. He kept crossing over to his left foot and taking hits and they just let him. Jake has been a good leader for us and a humble young man, and deserves the congratulations for the record.

“But the team deserves as many accolades for setting him up all game as well. I like seeing four different players get assists.”

Michael Denning notched three assists on the night while Ethan Potts had two.

“Michael and Jake really had a chemistry tonight,” Wiseman said.

Conor O’Leary and Ryan Goettemoeller got one assist apiece. Goettemoeller and Mikkel Alvarez combined in goal for the shutout.

Tuesday’s game was the Western Ohio Soccer League opener for both teams. The Cavaliers continue WOSL play on Thursday at 5 p.m. at home against Allen East, while Fairlawn hosts Lima Temple Christian.
