PIQUA — Sidney High’s boys soccer team won its sixth straight game Thursday night, going on the road and beating the Piqua Indians 3-0 in Greater Western Ohio Conference North action.

The win put the Jackets at 3-1-0 in the North and one game behind Vandalia. But the chance of gaining a share of the title is low since Vandalia only has winless Trotwood remaining.

Sidney is now 10-2-2 overall and completes regular season play Monday and Tuesday with games at Wapakoneta and Greenville, respectively.

“The guys have really bought into what we are doing and how we want to play,” said Sidney first-year coach Daniel Wicks. “More guys are starting to have success in front of goal and we haven’t conceded a goal in three straight games. We have two more regular season games, and we don’t want any set backs. We want to continue improving before the tournament.”

Sidney was led by Luke Rees, who scored a goal and assisted on the other two, which came from Kyle Mann and Ben McClain.

Sidney outshot Piqua 24-10, and had a 17-6 margin in shots on target.

Sidney goalie Ben Snavley finished with six saves.

Piqua drops to 1-2-1 in the North and 6-7-1 on the year.

As for the tournament, the draw takes place on Sunday.
