JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Lady Tigers wrapped up an outright County championship for the second year in a row Monday night by winning its 21st game in a row this season, 3-0 over Anna.

Anna came into the game 16-4 and one game behind the Lady Tigers in the standings. But Jackson started off fast, winning the first game 25-11, then followed up with 25-20, 25-19 wins to go to 11-0 in the league heading into their final County game last night at Fort Loramie.

“We’re playing very well, and it’s a lot of fun,” said longtime Jackson Center coach Kim Metz. “Every team I’ve had has been unique, and this one ranks right up there. Anna has improved very much, and I think they’re ready to explode. So this was a good win for us. We were able to take advantage of some of their errors.”

Cassie Meyer finished with 14 kills, 10 digs and two aces for Jackson. Erin Metz had seven kills and Alicia Kessler five. Kamryn Elchert had 17 assists and seven digs, Jayel Frye had eight assists and three aces, and Pauline Meyer finished with eight digs.

“I think from the get-go we had some things that we wanted to accomplish, and winning the league is one of them,” said Metz. “The County has really developed in volleyball and our league and this whole area is strong. These girls have come a long way from where they started to where we’re at now.”

For the Lady Rockets, Krista Gehret had 14 kills and Kennedey Glover seven. Elizabeth Landis had 28 assists, Mackenzie Wells 13 digs and Avery Bensman 12 digs.

• Jackson also won a tri-match at home Saturday, beating West Liberty Salem 25-19, 25-13, and Urbana 25-5, 25-16.

Meyer had 22 kills, 12 digs and four aces total in the two matches, Kessler 11 kills, Elchert 25 assists, Peyton Esser 13 digs and Camryn Hoehne three aces.

Tuesday

Anna defeated Botkins on Tuesday to close out County play with 10-2 record. The scores were 25-19, 25-22, 25-12.

Anna is now 17-5 overall and Botkins 5-17.

For Anna, Sarah Bettinger had 10 kills, Krista Gehret eight, Caileigh Kirtley six and Kennedey Glover five.

Elizabeth Landis had 29 assists and two aces, Mackenzie Wells had 15 digs and two aces, Kirtley had two aces, Avery Bensman 11 digs and Landis 10.

For Botkins, Sami Vehorn had six kills, Blake Maurer nine aces and Jenna Pitts 25 digs.

Russia wins 3-1

over Lady Trojans

BOTKINS — Russia spotted Botkins the first game, but then came back to take the next three in County volleyball action Tuesday night.

Botkins took the first game 25-21, but Russia the next three 25-18, 25-12, 25-14.

Rachel Hueing and Cameo Wilson led the attacks for Russia, with eight and seven kills, respectively. Katie Swartz had 16 assists and nine digs, Cassie Pleiman 22 digs and Lexi Monnin three aces.

For Botkins, Sami Vehorn and Sara Bergman had six kills apiece, Jenna Pitts 24 digs and Blake Maurer 10 assists.

Russia won the JV game 2-0.

Loramie wins 3-0

in County match

HOUSTON — Fort Loramie won three straight games over Houston in the third County match of the night Monday.

The scores were 25-16, 25-7, 25-14.

Sara Stang had a phenomenal night at the serving line. She was 24-for-25 and had 12 aces.

Caleigh Barhorst had 19 kills, Stang added eight and Brooke Ruhenkamp finished with seven. Maddie Brandewie had 32 assists.

Stang also led the defense with 10 digs, with Taylor Ernst and Brandewie finishing with seven. Brandewie also added four ace serves.

For Houston, Jenna Green had eight blocks and Jenna Winner and Katherine Everett six blocks each.

New Knoxville

wins in three

NEW KNOXVILE — New Knoxville hosted Lincolnview in non-league action Monday and dominated in notching its 12th win of the season 3-0.

The scores were 25-8, 25-15, 25-1.

Jenna Schwieterman led in kills with nine, Shayna Bierlein added seven and Caitlin Lammers finished with six. Keizie Schroer set them up with 22 assists, and also had seven kills and three ace serves. Schwieterman also had five aces.

Rachel Leffel served five aces and had 17 digs and Abby Lageman had 15 digs.

The win put Knoxville at 12-8 doing into action at home against Marion Local last night.

Christian Academy

loses to Dayton team

SIDNEY — Christian Academy lost 3-1 to Dayton Christian in action Monday, the scores being 25-12, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23.

Summer Inman had eight kills for the Lady Eagles, and Alexis Boersma served four aces and added three kills.

• Last Friday, the Lady Eagles defeated Urbana Christian in conference play, 3-1, the scores being 19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-18.

Inman again led the Lady Eagles with nine kills ands nine aces, and Micah Carter had five kills.

Minster wins 3-0

in league action

ROCKFORD — The Minster girls traveled to Parkway Tuesday night to take on the Lady Panthers in Midwest Athletic Conference play and won 3-0, with the scores being 25-20, 25-18, 25-13.

Minster goes to 12-8 on the year.

Rosie Westerbeck had 13 kills to lead Minster, and Jordyn Heitbrink added 11 and two aces. Katie Wuebker finished with seven and Paige Thobe six.

Hayley Baumer had 35 assists and 16 digs, LeAnn Huelsman had 19 digs and Hannah Schmitmeyer added 12 digs.
