Area football roundup: Anna, Lehman Catholic roll to big wins

ANNA — Anna scored quickly and had little problem against Parkway on Friday. The Rockets racked up 427 yards of offense and blasted the Panthers 42-0.

Aidan Endsley rushed for 178 yards on 13 carries for Anna with two touchdowns, and Riley Huelskamp ran for 73 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns. Bart Bixler completed 4-of-9 passes for 60 yards and ran for 57 yards on seven carries.

Parkway managed 164 yards of offense in the game and completed 4-of-15 third-down conversion attempts. Caleb Kauffman had two interceptions for Anna, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Endsley scored on a 78-yard touchdown run with 10:50 left in the first quarter, and Kauffman’s interception return for a touchdown came four minutes later. Huelskamp ran for a 3-yard run with 2:02 left in the first to extend the lead to 21-0.

Endsley scored a 7-yard touchdown midway through the second. Huelskamp scored on an 8-yard run late in the third quarter, and Bixler threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Isaac Liniger late in the fourth quarter.

The Rockets, who travel to Coldwater next Friday, improve to 7-1 with the win and 5-1 in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

Lehman Catholic 55, Upper Scioto Valley 0

It’s the fifth consecutive blowout win for Lehman in Northwest Central Conference play.

Lehman quarterback Elliott Gilardi ran for two touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns in the first half, and Owen Smith scored on two touchdown runs in the first quarter to help the Cavaliers build a 42-0 halftime lead.

Smith scored on runs of 35 yards and 57 yards, and Gilardi scored on runs of 65 yards and 55 yards. Gilardi threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Kameron Lee early in the second quarter and followed a few minutes later with a 27-yard pass to Brandon Barhorst.

Gilardi threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Bradley Haynes in the third quarter, and RJ Bertini threw a 37-yard TD pass to Drew Ivey in the fourth.

The Cavaliers host Lima Perry next Friday at Sidney Memorial Stadium.

Minster 42, New Bremen 21

Minster broke a four-game losing streak with a big win over New Bremen on Friday.

The Wildcats (4-4, 2-4 MAC) host Versailles next Friday, while New Bremen (3-5, 1-5) hosts Fort Recovery.

Isaac Schmiesing scored on a 1-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter and then threw a 56-yard halfback pass to Austin Brown to give Minster a 14-7 lead. Huelsman then threw a long touchdown pass to Jack Heitbrink and followed with a two-point conversion pass to Brown. Huelsman threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to August Boehnlein late in the second quarter to extend the lead to 28-7 after a missed extra point.

Huelsman threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Boehnlein and a short TD pass to Trent Roetgerman in the second half to finish Minster’s scoring.

New Bremen’s Avery Powers scored the first touchdown of the game on a short run and added a late 75-yard touchdown.

Coldwater 24, Versailles 10

Jacob Wenning caught three touchdown passes from Sam Broering to help the Cavaliers beat Versailles on Friday.

George Grow scored the first touchdown of the game on a 4-yard run to give Versailles a lead, but Broering threw a 30-yard TD pass and a 38-yard TD pass to Wenning to put Coldwater ahead for good.

The Tigers had 147 yards of offense and fumbled three times, while Coldwater had 300. Kurtis Rutschilling led Versailles with seven carries for 63 yards and with three receptions for 46 yards. Noah Waymire threw for 63 yards.

Wenning finished with six receptions for 146 yards. Broering completed 13-of-27 pass attempts for 244 yards.

Versailles (3-5, 2-4) plays at Minster next Friday.
